Blogging and other desires

DC Blogs Noted:

Bad girl, here we come!
Up All Night Jane

This is what Dostoevsky wrote about relationships in The Possessed or Demons:

“But do you understand, I cry to him, do you understand that along with happiness, in the exact same way and in perfectly equal proportion, man also needs unhappiness!”

And this is Jane’s take:

So that is the end of him. If he calls again I am gonna throw the nice girl act and be the complete bitch that I know is just waiting to come out! What? I'm sick of being nice all the time. I understand that everyone has feelings that need to be cared about, but I am over being wise for the next couple weeks! Bad girl, here we come!

Blogging … The New Corporate Strategy
A girl in dc

An engaging insider’s account of a corporate plan to take over DC's blogs.

These strategists, if I can call them that, that I was working with today like the idea of turning local blogs into their corporate sluts. The team leader for this whole discussion, I'll call him Mr. Z, is a reader of local DC blogs. His goal is to capture the younger audience with "informatory blogs" such as the DCist but twist it a la Washington Socialites or Cleveland Park Men's Club.

The always entertaining Washington Socialites responded thoughtfully: “Sounds like an excuse to party!"

Study: It’s high taxation without representation
Blogging about the Colony of the District of Columbia

Has report about a
Tax Foundation study that found that DC has the second highest overall tax burden.

But if you tape over the protest message on your DC license plate, Taxation Without Representation, because you want to protest the protest are you in violation of the law?

According to a
post on the Old City Capitol Hill Neighborhood Association you may face a $500 fine for covering a licensing plate.

A meditation on fascination
UnSettled – The DC Era

Becca writes:

I find few fascinations in my life, but time to time one comes along. Sometimes they are concepts, sometimes things, very rarely, but most especially, they are people.

Review: El Tamarindo
d.c. foodies

A restaurant in Adams Morgan and Georgia Ave. NW, near Walter Reed.

Salsa and fresh chips were put on our table instantly. Points were earned for the freshly-made tortilla chips and salsa. Some points were lost when I tasted the salsa which was watery and not very thick.
