The Van

DC Blogs Noted:

I was very tempted to make the DCist party Thursday. I’ve never been to one and it seemed like great fun. I think it’s very nice of DCist to hold them and open it up to everyone who blogs or reads them. But I was a little shy about it, and work kept me late.

What else, but to read blogs and then write about them, and love every day, from my one-bedroom DC cave.

A van’s invitation
More Than My Luggage

Our writer is asked if he wants to take a ride.

"Hey!" the driver yelled. Evidently, he was addressing me. "How ya doin'?" His passenger also looked out the window and smiled.

A short and beautiful read:

We didn't see each other after that night, but we kept up correspondence that was friendly at first, tortured and longing later.

Slouching Towards Babylon

An Audubon guide of Georgetown:

These gentlemen in their mid- to late-20s possess the means to buy some of the world's finer sartorial commodities; unfortunately, they have no clue which of them can be worn together.
And

If it's trendy, they're there. If it's not, they're there. They are the only species known (besides the Superannuated Assgrabber (female only) to inhabit every single bar in Georgetown, outside of Nathan's.

Among many others.

Trouble, Big Trouble
Amalah

Dear Amalah,
My company is tanking and I'm about to lose my job. My boss said so. Actually, everyone BUT my boss is about to lose their job. I just bought a house and am having a baby. What the FUCK should I do? Do you think anyone is going to hire a pregnant lady only to give her maternity leave in six months? I think not. …

Restaurant review: Five Guys
The Rock Creek Rambler

This is how it starts:

8.66 for a cheeseburger, fries, and a coke. Au Bon Pain is cheaper.

Wait until you get to the finish.
