DC Blogs noted:

I moved to San Francisco
Alex Pyne
After 21 years in DC this writer is living in San Francisco. He shares some immediate impressions and also why he left DC.
I moved for a change of pace, a change of scenery, a change in personality. I moved because living in the same place for two decades is not a growth experience on the whole.
WMATA turns on the propaganda
Live from the third rail
Kudos to Live from the third rail for calling Metro’s decision to have its employees hand out “Dear Fellow Rider” messages to people boarding Metro “propaganda.” These notices were Metro’s response to a recent series in the Washington Post about Metro.

I was handed one those slips at the Foggy Bottom Metro today by Metro (WMATA) employees. The little leaflet said, in part, “We want to assure you that much of the information in these articles is outdated …” It’s an abuse of trust (not to mention sophomoric PR) to use Metro resources in this manner and it’s self-defeating. Instead, start a blog.

The cost involved with the distribution of this message should come out of the pockets of those in charge of the WMATA.

It’s so hard getting to work by myself
Forays into Craig’s List
Our writer, a self-described “champion hand washer” has hobbies that include “mocking M4W Craig’s List posters in Washington and collecting state quarters.” In this post, he writes about the start of his day. We pick it up on the Metro:

Metro is packed this morning so I give the train a Front Double Biceps, Back Lat Spread, Front Abdominal-Thigh Isolation on the platform before boarding. There are too many gorgeous DC women to give them all individualized attention. I flex wink point with a trigger finger to all of them. Many blush and someone with small hands is squeezing as best she can my rock hard glutes.

Dear Lady in the Green Explorer
Avert Your Eyes
The practical problem of applying makeup while driving. Please read the comments, too. “I have to say I was quite amazed nay shocked that you were applying mascara while actively navigating traffic at 55 miles per hour.

Neighborhood Update
Improbable Things
A detailed report, complete with artist renderings, of new housing constructions at Vermont and Florida and nearby.

Also noted:

Where would we be without Craig’s List? Target-DC recently mined it and came up with some very funny
links.

Restaurant review
Chef Geoff’s downtown by dcfud. “The atmosphere is mildly yuppie, but unpretentious.”
