Dating scribe returns
The Daily Bulletin from Dating Hell
She’s back after a hiatius with her daily fix of: Suffering, torment, Wertherian struggles, Sturm und Drang, agony, pain, discontent, restlessness, humiliation, rejection, grief, abandonment, hopelessness, despair, etc. We pick up the report:

Huh? Okay, that was a little weird. He blows off my dinner invitation, breaks up with me, and then announces that he plans on inviting himself over for a rain check dinner one of these days?

“Um, sure,” I said, in a doubtful tone. (“Whatever,” I thought.)

“What were you going to make me, anyway?”

For further reading on this general topic, please see, DC Sleeps Alone Tonight and this perceptive assessment: 3 Types of Single Men Over 30.

Your blog librarian also suggest Lil DC Diva of the Butterfly Network. She is in New York and compares and contrast
DC vs NY men. The guys here actually try to make conversation with you. And not once, NOT ONCE, have I been asked the SIGNATURE DC question: "So, what do you do?" … I love this attitude.

Goodbye to all that
Shesbitter
One of the DC’s great bloggers, shesbitter, is moving. In this post she offers some shoutouts.

so today is my last day in dc. i feel like i've spent the last two weeks of my life packing, throwing away everything, and walking up and down the stairs in my five story building (where the elevator was conveniently condemned by the city earlier this week). i'm totally beat. despite my initial misgivings after moving here, i've had a truly wonderful time in dc, and i'm going to miss all of the wonderful people i've met here, many of whom have also already left. so it goes. ...

I need a siesta
Minneman Monarchy
A report on Thievery Corporation concert, the U Street area, the 9:30 Club, and the view from the balcony.

We walked over to the 9:30, which looked on the outside like an old schoolhouse gym. You small-town Kansans know what I'm talking about. Inside though, it's well designed. The floor space is about 50'x75', with the stage at a short end. The entire floor was open (and for good reason, as we shall shortly see). Above that is a balcony, stretching around 3 walls (not over the stage, obviously).

New blogs:

Painting DC Pink a group blog by three authors, Pretty in Pink, Berry-lucious and Chica Rosada, are bursting on the scene with advice and stories. Recent post warns of the type of guy who is called The Planner. We’ve all met him, and we all get sucked into his future plans, thinking about how wonderful it will be when come fall, we’ve been together for a few months, things are so great, and we’ll have all of these things that we want to do together. Word to the wise, any man you’ve been dating/known for less than a month and yet is making plans 3 months in the future, will not be around when that time comes.

Just Call Me Sunshine by a writer who is also known as Sunshine. In this recent post,
she writes about her obession with all things Disney. This obsession has led me to purchase thousands of dollars of Mickey Mouse related items for my home and (former) office (waffle maker, check; silverware, check; sheets, check; entire Disney animated movie collection, check; tattoo, check). There’s more to it than that in this very good read.

Also Noted:

Blah, blah, black sheep
reports on the Sixth Annual Sidewall Sale Midcity Dog days Aug. 6 & 7 at 14th and U Streets. One of my favorite parts of DC is the area around 14th and U streets. It's got a nice collection of places to hang out … Even if Jenna Bush is hanging there now.

Petworth News reports that
There's momentum building among residents to create a tree-lined median on Sherman Avenue, roughly from Howard University to the Petworth metro.

Movie being filmed in DC, reports the large glass in
I'm Getting out my Humongous Shades Right Now, staring, among others, Michael Douglas and Kim Basinger. Even Mayor Williams will be in the movie. An AP report.
